Goal Use BLAST for fast transmission of binary encoded asset data
Description Large structured assets consume large amounts of data for their geometry description when they are defined by JSON-string encoded vertex lists. But even for huge scenes with many assets, loading times for the website that displays the scene should be short and the page should stay responsive. In order to improve loading times of assets, we plan to employ BLAST (Binary Large Structured Transmission Format) for asset data delivery and extend the underlying data management of XML3D to directly deal with efficient binary encoded asset data.
Rationale Delivering assets in an optimized compressed binary format reduces loading times and memory consumption in browser-based applications tremendously compared to raw data.
