Name Connectivity Chapter Apps/Services, IoT, I2ND
Goal Devices (e.g. DER, Network Smart Devices) or sub-systems (e.g. Home/Building Energy Management Systems) installed in or at the edge of a Smart Grid need to communicate between each other or to their hosts located in physical Control or Management Centers or with virtualised Management Systems (eventually private or public cloud-based). Therefore Connectivity functions have to be assumed ubiquitously present throughout the SG topology. Different physical implementations of connectivity functions (communication networks) shape various dimensions of available capabilities. To match and agree on specific sets of connectivity capabilities between connected devices and Control Centers or Management Systems, the following EPICs were defined.

Please note that they represent only a partition of the desired capability dimensions. Others need to be described in parallel or need to be added (e.g. performance, reliability, availability, scalability, security and environmental related).

Description For details see: EPIC.FINSENY.Connectivity.Infrastructure, EPIC.FINSENY.Connectivity.Services, EPIC.FINSENY.Connectivity.QoS
Rationale Connectivity capabilities need to be commonly understood, agreed and controlled within the SG to support full desired functionality. For details see: EPIC.FINSENY.Connectivity.Infrastructure, EPIC.FINSENY.Connectivity.Services, EPIC.FINSENY.Connectivity.QoS
